|PhotoFluorII - High powered, ultrastable light source for quantitative fluorescence imaging
89 North presents the new PhotoFluor II lightsource for fluorescence microscopy. PhotoFluor II uses a self-adjusting 200 W metal halide lamp for highest stability over the entire visible range. Compared with common light-sources for microscopy like mercury-, xenon- or 120W metal halid-lamps PhotoFluor II offers several advantages:
- more power in all fluorescence relevant spectral ranges
- live time exceeds more than 10 time in comparison with mercury- and xenon-lamps
- more than 40x less consumption of toxic mercury
With 5 mm or 3 mm Liquid Lightguide PhotoFluor II is easy to adapt to all common microscopes. For all recent models of all manufacturers adaption sets are available.
The built-in 5-position filterwheel with shutter is motorized and remote controlled via serial commands. Basically equipped with filters for light attenuation, the wheel could also configured with custom exciters for user-specific fluorophores. For the most common imaging-software-platforms drivers are available. For manual use PhotoFlour II offers users an intuitive pad. Together with the LED-Display all functions and recent state of the lamp could be easiest controlled.
With the Photofluor II annoying time gaps after shut down the lamp, known from Gen I metal halid-lamps are not any longer required. User can switch on and off the lamp whenever needed. An interlock prevents for hazards, if no light guide is connected. Changing the lamp could be done within minutes without any special tools or alignment procedure.
